Access Point <Resistance Makes It Stronger>

"One of the most uncomfortable aspects of our pain and discomfort may well be our own resistance to them."

- James K. McPartland

I know now that the phrase "growing pains" is defined that way for a reason, and that the authentic

experience of development tends not to be "growing pleasures". When we resist pain, we frequently seek to control, sedate, avoid, and distract ourselves from the feeling. However, the inherent value in the discomfort is the message it seeks to deliver to us. Life brings us polarity. We can see that there is both light and dark, good and bad, up and down, joy and suffering, and the energy of good health distinguished from the anguish of disease. We must know one side to appreciate the opposite side. The opportunity to embrace the messenger and the message, is to accept it all as a true platform for growth. When we recognize that we are fully responsible for our own life experience, we have access to the present moments that far too often escape us.
