Access Point <It's Only A Game>
"There are no obstacles, there are merely conditions of the game. Remember - it's just a game."
- James K. McPartland
From the analogy of sports, individuals and teams simply respond to the conditions of the game. If there is rain, wind, extreme temperatures, a wet field, an unsupportive crowd, injuries, or even questionable officials, these are merely conditions of the game. And, as such, a recognition arises that all of these are out of one's control.
When we focus on the only thing we can control - including being ourselves and how we play - we protect the precious resource of our personal energy. Further, since it is just a game, we can choose to have fun as we strive to give our absolute best.
Finally, it isn't the scoreboard that counts. It is knowing that we gave our all, played to our potential, and brought out the greatness in others through our personal example of how we play the game.
