"A well thought out question can reveal something to you that you did not know
you were looking for."
James McPartland
Formulating the right question is difficult, far more challenging than coming up with an answer. Depending on what we are searching for, our questions can lead us to exactly what we are in search of. While in some cases this is helpful, often times questions may not allow us to see what is right in front of us. Consider the distinction between these two questions:
~ If you were me, what would you do different?
~ If you had my job, what would be your top three priorities?
In the first case, the question is personal. In the second, it is situational. What question could you ask of the key stakeholders in your life that would accelerate your learning and lead you to obtaining results faster? You already know what you know, a quality question can steer you in a new direction and reveal to you something you did not know you were looking for.
